Dig it up!

April 1993

SOUTH CAROLINA TREASURE

AND

ARTIFACT ASSOCIATION

April 1993

At the march meeting we had a good turn out of members and a good time of socializing and getting to know one another better. There was no new business to discuss so after the treasure's report we went right into the program. The program was discussion on the basics use and operations of metal detecting. There was a lot of helpful input from the members and we made our best efforts to answer each others questions about the subject. Hopefully We all gained a little more knowledge that will help us in the future to be more successful at our hobby.

The find of the month prizes were giving as soon as the voting was complete and the raffle prize of a 2 peso gold coin was giving to the lucky number holder, Donnie Bagwell.

The april meeting will be held Monday night, April 26 at the Greer Rec Center. the program will be about helpful hints to aid in locating good hunts sites. I will be sharing with you some research tips that have worked for me and will hopefully benefit you as well!

"Put in the want ads"

If you wish to place an add contact Ray Hunt or Donnie Bagwell with the information that you would like printed and we will get it in the newsletter for you.

The Detector of the Month

The Tesors Bandido

to help inform the members we will be running a series of featured articles on different detectors that are available. this months detector is the Tesoro Bandido.

My first impression of the bandido upon looking at it was that it was probably just another toy detector to keep the kids occupied. It's very compact and light weight design along with it's simple to operate control can cause one, as i did to underestimate this machine. One trip out in the field was all that it took to convince me that it was definitely not a toy! The bandido offers the Tesoro's exclusive high gain circuit that automatically adjust the detector optimum depth performance once that it has been initially tuned. The bandido also has a ten turn ground balance, single discrimination, threshold and sensitivity controls.

It does not feature a notch disc. or i.d. meter but as far as power and depth capabilities go it is competitive and in some cases even superior to detectors costing two and three times the suggested $369 retail price of the bandido.

Not only is the bandido affordable to buy, it is also inexpensive to operate. It uses two 9 volt batteries that last 30 hours hunting time.

In summary the bandido ia a lightweight, affordable, no frills detector that offers maximum depth and power at a price that will not clean out your treasure chest!

Next month's featured detector article will be on the white's eagle.
